The Jacob N. Shanberge, M.D. Memorial Scholarship In 1974, Doctors Jacob N. Shanberge and RichardAster, along with their patient, Jim Goggins, founded Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation (GLHF) as a chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF). Dr. Shanberge was the first President of GLHF's Board of Directors and had deep roots in Milwaukee, beginning in childhood and continuing on through his graduation from medical school.
