Richard J. Sagall, MD, President
rich Rich received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. After completing his family practice residency at the Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, ME, he practiced family medicine and occupational medicine there for nearly 20 years. During that time he began NeedyMeds. He and his wife moved to Philadelphia where he practiced occupational medicine and ran NeedyMeds.

Rich has written articles on assistance programs and occupational medicine topics for a number of publications. He has given presentations on patient assistance programs and occupational medicine throughout the country. In addition to directing NeedyMeds, he runs the Pediatrics for Parents website (www.pedsforparents.com), a website on children's health, and publishes Pediatrics for Parents. Bill Kyrouz, Database Research Associate
bill Bill works on a number of databases, including State-Sponsored Programs, Application Assistance, and Free/Low-Cost Clinics. Bill received his BS in accounting from Suffolk University and was a CPA for 29 years. Prior to joining NeedyMeds, Bill worked as an appeals officer for the IRS.

Bill and his wife were raised in Gloucester and have resided there since 1972. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. When not at NeedyMeds, Bill enjoys his grandchildren, following local/regional sports and walking along Stacy Boulevard. Bill can be reached at: bkyrouz@needymeds.org.


Robin Hoffman, Director of Operations
robin Robin oversees the day-to-day operations and is our resident graphic designer. Her background is in typesetting, graphics and the newspaper industry. Robin grew up in Ohio and has lived in upstate New York and Vermont, where she worked for graphic design firms, newspapers, and a TV station. Robin moved from Vermont to Massachusetts in 2009 where she earned her B.S. in Graphic Design at Northeastern University. She has two grown children, a son and a daughter, three grandchildren, and enjoys living (and fishing) in Gloucester with her husband. Robin can be reached at: robin@needymeds.org.


Samuel Rulon-Miller, IT Manager
sam Samuel provides IT support - overseeing servers, computer and software networking, telephone system, database programming, and troubleshooting as well as designing Filemaker database scripts and structures.

Samuel graduated from Gettysburg College in 2008 with a degree in religion. When not working at NeedyMeds, Samuel spends his time working on a variety of music projects. He lives in Gloucester, MA. Sam can be reached at: samuel@needymeds.org.


Damaris Mercedes Hernandez, Bilingual Helpline / Database & Research Manager
dee Damaris is NeedyMeds' Database & Research Manager as well as our bilingual staff member, assisting in helpline calls from Spanish-speaking callers. She took college classes in IT and is interested in continuing her education in social work as well. Damaris lives in Lynn, MA with her husband and is the mother of four children. She brings enthusiasm, a very helpful presence and great snacks to our office. Damaris can be reached at: damaris@needymeds.org.

Alanna Hendrickson, Office Manager / Fulfillment
alanna Alanna was born in Gloucester, MA and currently resides in West Gloucester. In her free time she likes to read comic books, plays video games, enjoys baking, playing with her dog Walter, and spending time with family and friends. Alanna can be reached at: alanna@needymeds.org.


Dianne Officer, PAP Database Manager
dianne Dianne manages the PAP database. She grew up in the Bay Area of California and has lived in Alaska, Florida, Michigan, Vermont and Massachusetts. She decided to move to the Northeast after living through the 1980's drought, escaping the Oakland, CA firestorm of 1991, without a scratch, and then surviving the California Loma Prieta 7.0 Earthquake of 1989. Peggy Pepler, Call Center Counselor Lead / Research Associate
peggy Peggy moved to Gloucester after being a long time resident of Rhode Island. She has a BS in Administration of Justice from Roger Williams University. She has many years of experience in a call center environment. In her free time she likes to spend time at the ocean, knitting and visiting her family in Rhode Island. Ruthie Rowe, HR Coordinator / Accounting Assistant
ruthie Ruthie graduated with honors from North Shore Community College with an A.S. in Paralegal studies and from Suffolk University in Boston, MA with a BS in applied legal studies. She has a strong customer service background and enjoys helping others. Ruthie was born in Gloucester and lives with her son, two cats and large frog collection. Evan O'Connor, Research Associate / Healfundr Project Manager
evan Evan grew up in Gloucester, MA and is back living in town after completing his BA in English at Salem State University. His experience in the ever-evolving world of publishing and his previous position inputting data for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts lends itself to the efficient and thorough updating of our various databases, including the Diagnosis-Based Assistance and Free/Low Cost Clinics databases. In addition to his database work, Evan is the program manager of our medical crowdfunding platform: HEALfundr, writes for the blog, The NeedyMeds Voice, manages the NeedyMeds' social media outreach and drug discount card printing and distribution. When not working at NeedyMeds Evan enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, playing video games, and spending time with his girlfriend. Evan can be reached at: evan@needymeds.org.

Tracey Beals Lovell, Call Center Manager
tracey Tracey has over 20 years of customer service experience, which assists her in helping people day-to-day while answering helpline calls. Tracey grew up in Danvers, MA and moved to Gloucester several years ago, where she lives with her son, husband, twin boys, their cat and two ferrets. In her spare time Tracey enjoys spending time with her family and friends and taking her teenage son, a budding mechanic, to work on his first car. Tracey can be reached at: tracey@needymeds.org.

Leah Zaroulis, Database Research Associate/Call Center Counselor
leah Leah is the Research Associate for the Discount Drug Programs and also answers helpline calls. She has a BA in History from Roger Williams University. Her professional background is in library services and she has also worked as a freelance reporter for her local newspaper. Leah enjoys helping others with their information needs. Her interests include going to concerts, reading, visiting museums and spending time with family and friends. Leah can be reached at: leah@needymeds.org.


Fred Witte, Accounting Manager
Fred Witte Fred handles the bookkeeping duties for NeedyMeds. He retired to Rockport in 2009 after a career in various financial management roles in communications corporations. His love of classical music is principally demonstrated in singing with community choruses such as Heritage Chorale in Framingham, Chorus North Shore in Ipswich and Cape Ann Symphony Chorus. He may also be found singing Christmas Carols in a quartet dressed in Victorian garb at local restaurants, nursing homes, senior centers, etc. in late November/December. Fred serves on the Board of Cape Ann Symphony and volunteers at The Open Door and Rockport Music. Fred can be reached at: fred@needymeds.org.


Lourdes (Lou) Garcia, Bilingual Helpline / Research Associate
Lourdes Garcia Lou is one of our bilingual staff members, assisting in helpline calls from Spanish-speaking callers. In the research department, she works on updating the Imaging Centers database. Born in Monterrey, N.L. Mexico, she has lived in the United States since 1984. She studied Journalism and Spanish while attending U.A.N.L. (Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon) in Mexico, Louisiana Tech University and Minot State University in North Dakota. After completing a CNA course at North Shore Community College, Lou worked as a HHA and CNA for 10 years with the elderly, mainly with Alzheimer's and dementia patients. The mother of three grown children, Lou enjoys meditation, movies, reading and spending time with her children, friends and family when she visits Mexico. Abby Zwart, HealthWeb Navigator Editor
Abby Zwart Abby grew up in Essex, MA, and worked at Market Basket for four years. She has always greatly enjoyed helping others in any way she can, volunteering with many different agencies. She is currently working towards a degree in Human Services. In her free time she likes to go for runs, listen to music, draw, and bake. Abby can be reached at: abby@needymeds.org.

Carla Dellaporta, Education Coordinator
Carla Carla is the Education Coordinator, creating partnerships, engaging in outreach efforts and conducting webinars for NeedyMeds. Carla's professional background has been entirely dedicated to non-profit organizations from New York City to Cape Ann. Carla has a passion for writing and, when she's not on the beach with her puppy Benjamin, spends her time to trying to get her novels published. Carla can be reached at: carla@needymeds.org.


Sam (Sal) Landry, PAPTracker Sales Manager / Database Research Associate
Sam Landry Sam is the PAPTracker Sales Manager as well as a database research associate. His previous work experience includes improving online databases and general maintenance of the data. Sam has a special interest in Hepatitis C, as he believes anyone who does qualify for the expensive treatment should receive it, regardless of income or ability to pay. He was born and raised in Gloucester and Rockport and has lived his whole life on "the island". In his free time Sam likes to play card and video games and throw the frisbee for his dogs—even though they never bring the frisbee back. Sam can be reached at: sam.landry@needymeds.org.


Jacob Kleindienst, Mail Room Assistant / Database Research Associate
Jacob Kleindienst Jacob works at NeedyMeds as a mail room assistant and as a research associate for Medical Centers. He was born and raised in Gloucester, MA and has lived there most of his life. Jacob has a BA in Human Services from Springfield College. His previous work experiences includes retail and restaurant work as well as occupations in the no-profit sector, including animal shelters and residential services for disabled adults. In his free time, he enjoys reading, video games, playing piano, and spending time with family and friends. Jacob can be reached at: jacob@needymeds.org.


Bill Nardone / Database Research Associate
Bill Nardone Bill works as a Database Research Associate on updating Medical Center or Clinic information. Bill received his BA in Math, and his MAEd from Boston State College, and worked as a middle school Math. and Computer teacher for the City of Boston. While there he also started a sailing club and taught navigation and charting to his Roxbury middle school students, and cruise with them on his sailboat on a US Coast Guard Auxiliary accompanied trip from Gloucester to Boston Harbor. Bill also taught sailing to his East Boston students on Boston Harbor. After finishing his teaching career Bill began a new career as a real estate agent which he continues in addition to his work at NeedyMeds.

Bill and his wife moved to Gloucester in 1998. They have 2 adult children who enjoy having Gloucester in their blood. Bill still enjoys any time he can spare to be at, on or near the water. Bill can be reached at: bill.nardone@needymeds.org.


Joe Benga, Call Center Counselor / Research Associate
Joe Benga Joe was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, he moved to Gloucester in 2011 with his mother and two dogs. His hobbies include Playing video games, reading comics and going out to eat with friends.

Nathan Blake, HealthWeb Navigator Researcher / Editor
Nate Blake

Nathan grew up on the Virginia coastline and spent four years at Virginia Tech teaching various English courses before moving to Gloucester. He earned a graduate degree in creative writing and published a collection of short fiction with Winged City Press in 2014. When he's not spending time in the kitchen or on the beach, Nathan enjoys exploring antique shops, though he can't afford anything he finds (yet).

Dana Walker, Call Center Counselor / Research Associate
Dana Walker Dana has several years experience in the customer service industry. She assists our callers in giving a helping hand. Dana was born in Connecticut but spent the majority of her childhood in New Hampshire and moved to Gloucester, MA in 2001. In her spare time she enjoys beachcombing, baking and hunting for bargains. Vanessa Locke, Call Center Counselor / Research Associate
Vanessa Vanessa works at NeedyMeds as a Helpline Counselor and Research Associate. She has over 20 years experience in customer service and loves being able to help others any time she can. She attended Emmanuel College in Boston as well as Salem State University where she studied Communications, Writing and Psychology. Vanessa is a die-hard New England Patriots fan. She grew up in Nahant, MA and lived in Salem, MA for over 20 years where she raised her son Jackson. She currently resides in Gloucester, MA with her pug Courtney Jo. In her free time Vanessa enjoys collecting and listening to vinyl records, going to concerts, doing any type of arts and crafts projects, and of course spending time with her son when he is home from college. vanessa@needymeds.org.


Samantha Schneiderman / Database Research Associate
Samantha Samantha works at NeedyMeds as a Database Research Associate for Diagnosis Based Assistance. She was born and raised right outside of Boston and lives in Nahant, MA with her mother and dog Harley. Samantha graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with an Associates in Computer Science and is currently working towards her Bachelors. When she isn't singing Disney show tunes, in her free time Samantha likes to play video games, board and card games, hone her skills on the Ukulele and tell puns — even if they aren't very good ones.
